Romans 13:13-14 Let us behave properly as in the day, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and sensuality, not in strife and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts.
Making changes in our lives, actions, habits, character requires a step of faith. Unlike the world our faith is not that the changes will yield health, financial, or social benefits but that is will yield spiritual benefits by conforming us to the likeness of the one who purchased us. Peter tells us that ”if these qualities are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ”. Isn’t that our desire to useful to the Lord and to bear fruit. So lets look at Peters list again and start there “in your faith supply moral excellence, and in your moral excellence, knowledge, and in your knowledge, self-control, and in your self-control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, and in your godliness, brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness, love.” Where are you in your walk what are you lacking? Are you dealing with, issues of self-control, having trouble persevering when things take longer than you’d like, maybe it’s moral issues. Take stock, evaluate yourself soberly and then lace up your walking shoes and get ready for tomorrow.
Lord, you know me better than I could ever know myself, speak to me today about what you what YOU want me to address in my life. Thank you that you are completing the good work you began in me, continue to grow my faith and help me to become deliberate and diligent as I grow in my knowledge of you. Lord I pray this not only for myself but for my brothers in Christ as well.
I Jesus Name, Amen
