Press forward. Do not stop, do not linger in your journey, but strive for the mark set before you.George Whitefield

Heb 12:1-2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

A final thought on Peter’s words. Adding Christian Virtues is a lot like peddling a bike, as one pedal comes up you push it down and replace it with the other and that is what moves the bike forward. The same thing applies in our live. As we become aware of a trait that is NOT Christ like then that’s the trait we need to deal with at that moment in our life. We need right then and there to stomp down on it and replace it with the Fruit of the Spirit or Christ like trait neutralizes it, Grace for anger, peace for confusion, mercy for vengeance, generosity for covetousness, holiness for impurity, love for hatred, self-control for passion…….

Final Devotional Reading:

Romans 8:24-39

“I also realize that winning doesn’t always mean getting first place; it means getting the best out of yourself.” -Meb Keflezighi, silver medalist, 2004 Olympic Marathon

One last thought we inoculate our children for chicken pox, polio and tetanus so that they never have to worry about getting these diseases. Peter says 8” For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Developing Christian Character is our inoculation!

Lord God thank for providing not only the directions but the cure for the sin we still hold onto. Continue to conform us to the likeness of Your Son. Father again I lift my brothers to you and ask that you bless them in whatever they set their hands to.

In Jesus name, amen!!

May the Lord bless you and your house hold.
