“Confront the dark parts of yourself, and work to banish them with illumination and forgiveness. Your willingness to wrestle with your demons will cause your angels to sing.” ― August Wilson
This weeks’ devotional study is based on a class I recently gave over the need, understanding and development of Christian Character. Spend any amount of time on social media or reading the news and it becomes quickly apparent that true character is sorely missing in much of our society. The truth is we all have “character flaw” as they are commonly called. Paul addresses them (1 Corinthians 6,Romans 8:29) Peter addresses them (1 Peter 2:9, 1 Peter 3:9) In reality from Genesis to Revelation God is pointing out the ‘character flaws’ in His people and the need for them to be addressed and corrected.
For today read contemplate 2 Peter 1:1–11
Character is the springboard from which all we do and say in life comes. Developing biblical character in the face of our daily lives and even in adversity is essential and the proof text that we have a growing relationship with Christ! Character is not just having integrity or honesty or doing the right thing; it is not one aspect or even a few. It is a living, growing relationship in Christ which produces a synergistic combination of the fruits of the Spirit.
